  | Learning Community Quintet Records - Emerging voices in jazz composition are soon to be revealed!
| 7/6/2008 - I am pleased and excited to announce that my new quintet featuring Eric Alexander - tenor saxophone, Brian Lynch - trumpet, Jim McNeeely - piano, Todd Coolman (yours truly) - bass, and John Riley - drums has just recorded a CD that I am now mixing, mastering, and preparing for release in late August or early September. The recording along with several downladable files depicting the entire creative process that led to this recording will be available very soon through this Website. One fascinating aspect of this particular recording is that it contains all original compositions that I solicited from the public...in many cases from complete strangers. It has yielded some fresh and challenging music and will soon reveal some new voices in jazz composition.

  | A rising star...?
| | 4/6/2008 - I have been impressed by the quality and originality of the compositions that are being submitted to my Learning Community Quintet. Recently I received one such composition from a 16 year old composer/pianist in Maine by the name of Dana Malseptic. In his words, "Dear Todd, Brian, Dave, Lewis, and Jim; It is an honor to have my music played by such important instrumentalists. Your respective careers have been truly inspiring for me as a pianist and composer." | |
